Lent Reflections.2011.Day 29
Today’s reflection in The Passage To Transformation– the resource from Church Resource Ministries I am using for my Lenten devotionals this year — is from Psalm 118:22-23:
22 The stone the builders rejected has become the cornerstone;23 the LORD has done this, and it is marvelous in our eyes.
Builders carefully choose, prepare, and place the cornerstone when beginning construction. If it is not perfectly shaped and set in the exact location it needs to be, the entire building will be off center. Other stones for the building have to be cut and shaped to match the cornerstone.
Ephesians 2:20 tells us that Christ is the cornerstone. If we are going to be His followers, we need to be shaped to match Him.
What does God have to cut away from me so that I will match Christ the cornerstone?
During the Season of Lent I am praying that God will “chisel away” the things in me that do not match Christ. This is a painful process — but one that will make me match Christ!
Lord — Take Your chisel and shape me so I can be like the cornerstone. Shape me so I can be more like Christ. Amen.
