Lent Reflectins.2011.Day 10

March 18th, 2011 · Posted in Christianity, Lent Reflections, Reflections, The Church Year · 2 Comments

Today’s reflection in The Passage To Transformation– the resource from Church Resource Ministries I am using for my Lenten devotionals this year — is based on Hosea 6:1-2:

“Come, let us return to the LORD. He has torn us to pieces
but he will heal us; he has injured us but he will bind up our wounds.
After two days he will revive us;
on the third day he will restore us,
that we may live in his presence.”

I admit it — I am a sinner.
I confess it — I am a sinner.

A lot of times I go in ways God does not want me to go. I do things God does not want me to do, think things God does not want me to think, and respond to others in ways God does want me to respond.

There are ramifications for the ways I sin. My relationship with God is damaged and relationships with others can get damaged also. The great truth is that God loves me, and forgives me when I confess my sins to Him. He also helps me seek reconciliation with others.

During this season of Lent I am looking at the ways I sin and spending time confessing my sins to God and to others. As I do this I am rediscovering God’s love for me and rebuilding relationships with others. I’m rediscovering the blessings of taking God up on His promise to heal me, restore me, and give me the strength and grace to live in His presence when I confess my sins to Him.

Bill, well said. I may borrow this and use it for a call to confession and confession of sin….
confessing to others????
I mean, that’s like …. what Bonhoeffer wanted.
Good luck with that….

What’s that old saw… you can confess to me and then I will confess to you.
my confession – I ‘am a gossip and can’t keep a secret.

In this context I mean “confessing to others” to be apologizing to them for the times I have hurt them.
