Evangelism = Who We Are, What We Do, And What We Say

I attended the Evangelism tract of the Big Tent Conference in Atlanta last week. It was a great conference — with great speakers and exciting worship.

One of the ideas we discussed is — what makes people want to know more about God?

We discussed that most Americans are not interested enough in salvation for them to listen to someone talk to them about their need for their souls to be saved. Instead, they want to know how God can change their lives – here and now. They want to be a part of a community where folks care about each other.

If your Church is not a caring community, you probably will not reach folks for God. If you are not caring and loving, you probably won’t reach folks for Jesus.

The message the Church needs to take to the community and the world is that there is a God who longs for people to know Him and fall in love with Him – and participate in His work in the world. Evangelism is about what we say — but it’s also about who we are and what we do!
