Young People Leaving The Church?

December 1st, 2008 · Posted in Practical Ministry ·

Todd Rhoades over at Monday Morning Insight has an interesting post this morning asking if it is true that young people are leaving the church.

While I find that young people may not be as involved in mainline churches as they were (the Church I serve is one example of many) — they are getting more involved in churches that have more contemporary worship and more hands on mission opportunities. This does not seem to be leaving the church, but leaving churches that are not meeting their needs for worship and for hands on outreach. Maybe if more mainline churches (the one I serve included) would focus on new ways to worship and new ways to reach others with the love of God the young people would not feel the need to go elsewhere.

I’d welcome comments on this!
