Good Idea vs. God Idea
September 22nd, 2008 · Posted in Practical Ministry ·I just read a great article that helps identify whether an idea for ministry is a “good idea” or a “God idea.”
Here are some of the criteria for deciding whether or not an idea is “good” or “of God”:
1. Where did the idea originate?
2. Where’s the fiath?
3. Can I live without it?
4. Does it get a mixed reaction?
The ways the answers to these questions point to whether an idea is a “good idea” or a “of God idea” will probably not surprise you — but may help you see that we need to be more open to taking risks that God may be calling us to make. We tend to be too passive in trying new ideas — afraid that they might not be from God and that we might fail. I love the last sentence in the article as an answer to this attitude:
I hope that whenever I do “miss God,” it’s because I’m being too aggressive trying to reach people, rather than because I’m being too passive.
One more example of the fact that we miss 100% of the shots we are too afraid to take!
