Lead Like Jesus

I finished reading Lead Like Jesus by Ken Blanchard and Phil Hodges today. It is a great book — in a way a Biblical version of Steven Covey’s ideas I read some years ago and have tried to live by ever since.

Blanchard and Hodges call on us to lead in the way Jesus lead — to be a servant leader. For this to happen, they say we need 4 things:

1. The heart of a servant leader — We need to be lead by Jesus, and be willing to lead others in the way Jesus lead — by serving.

2. The head of a servant leaders — We need to focus on how we can serve others — not how we can be served by others.

3. The hands of a servant leader — We need to act in ways that will serve others and serve God.

4. The habits of a servant leader — We need to have habits of prayer, scripture reading, solitude, scripture memorization, and other things that will renew us in our commitment to serving.

The heart, head, hands, and habits of a servant leader will help us lead like Jesus!
