Rob On Loss

June 29th, 2007 · Posted in Reflections, SPIRITUALITY ·

The grandmother of Patricia, my nephew Rob’s wife, died this week. Keep the family in your prayers.

Rob wrote a wonderful piece on Loss as a response to his grandmother’s death, Patricia’s grandmother’s death, and several other things going on in their lives. Here’s a part of it:

A friend of mine once said in the midst of a tragedy, “People have been quoting Bible verses to me all day. I just need to go be sad.”

He’s right. And they are too.

We don’t always see things clearly. The good news is that there is healing on the other side of loss. But it takes faith. It takes hope. It takes a community.

I have always thought of grief as something you have to get through, not over.
