The Events of Holy Week: Tuesday

April 3rd, 2007 · Posted in Christianity, Holy Week Reflections, Reflections, Religion, The Church Year ·

One event that may have occurred on Tuesday of Holy Week is the Greeks coming to see Jesus (John 12:20-36).

Several things strike me about this passage:

First, it is indeed good that Gentiles came to see Jesus — and that Jesus welcomed them. Jesus seemed to take this as a sign that it was almost time for His crucifixion and resurrection. It seems that this was a sign of the worldwide mission of the church after the death, resurrection, and ascension of Christ.

I wonder how willing I am to take Jesus to all people — regardless of who they are?

Second, Jesus says that those who will serve Him will follow Him (John 12:23-26).

I wonder how willing I am to follow — and serve — Jesus?

Finally — when God spoke (John 12:28-33) many misunderstood what had happened.

I wonder how many times I misunderstand the voice of God — or try to explain away the voice of God in my life?

Lord — I praise You for Your love for me. Help me to follow You — to hear Your call and Your voice in my life — and to take Your love into the world. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
