Purpose 4 of Rick Warren’s book The Purpose Driven Life is:

Warren continues this discussion in day 30 — Shaped For Serving God. Beginning with the sentence: You were shaped for serving God Warren points out that every person is designed (or “shaped” as he puts it) to do certain things. Everyone has a specific ministry in the world to perform, and every Christian needs to discover what their particular ministry might be.

Warren has developed the acrostic SHAPE:

to illustrate 5 things that go together to help you determine your gifts and your abilities for ministry.

Spiritual Gifts
God has given every believer spiritual gifts that can be used for ministry. When you use your gifts for the benefit of others, you are fulfilling your ministry.

Heart
When the Bible talks about heart, it’s talking about the desires, interests, hopes, and ambitions you may have. These are the things that you are passionate about — that you are good at — and that you should use to fulfill your ministry.

Lord — I know you have a ministry for me to do. Help me to see what it might be, and serve You and others with the gifts you have given me. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
