The Purpose Driven Life: Day 8 — Planned For God’s Pleasure

Purpose 1 in Rick Warren’s book The Purpose Driven Life is:

You Were Planned For God’s Pleasure

He begins this purpose with Day 8 — Planned For God’s Pleasure.

You were planned for God’s pleasure.

God chose to create us for His pleasure. Bringing enjoyment and pleasure to God is the first purpose of our lives.

Warren makes 4 points about bringing pleasure to God:

1. Bringing pleasure to God is called worship.
Worship is not just what we do in a Church building — everything we do can be worship. God has put an urge to worship inside of us. We will worship other things — even ourselves – if we do not worship God

2. Worship is more than music.
Many times we might think that worship is the music we use during a Church service — or even a particular style or type of music we may use during a Church service. Worship has nothing to do with the style or tempo of a song. It has everything to do with our attitude of praise to God.

3. Worship is not for your benefit.
Too many times we might say “I got so much out of worship today” — or “I got nothing out of worship today.” Worship is not about what we get out of it, but what we give to God through it.

4. Worship is not part of your life, it is your life.
Worship is not just Church services — but everything we do can be done in a spirit of worship.

Do you do everything in a spirit of worship and praise to God? This will give great pleasure to God!

Lord, I love You and praise You for all You have done in my life. Let all I do be an act of worship and praise to You. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
