The Purpose Driven Life: Day 7 — The Reason For Everything
March 1st, 2007 · Posted in Books, Christianity, Practical Christianity, Purpose Driven Life · 0 CommentsIt’s all for Him.
That’s how Rick Warren begins day 7 in his book The Purpose Driven Life. The ultimate goal of the universe is to show the glory of God. Nature — the universe — all of God’s wonderful creation exists to give glory to God.
The question is — how can we bring glory to God?
Warren gives the 5 purposes for life — which the rest of the book deal with — as ways we can bring glory to God.
1. We bring glory to God by worshiping Him.
This does not mean just going to Church — but having a lifestyle that enjoys — and gives praise to — God.
2. We bring glory to God by loving other believers.
Being a Christian means belonging to the family of God — and loving others who belong to God’s family.
3. We bring glory to God by becoming like Christ.
God wants us to grow into spiritual maturity — and become more and more like Christ. We can’t stay the way we are, but we have to let Christ make us who we can be.
4. We bring glory to God by serving others with our gifts.
Each of us have different gifts we can use for God’s glory and to do God’s will in the world. We have to use our gifts God has given us.
5. We bring glory to God by telling others about Him.
We can’t keep God’s love a secret. We have to tell others!
The first section of The Purpose Driven Life is over. The rest of the 40 days will deal with different aspects of the purposes for life Warren presents.
One question remains that needs to be answered before moving on:
What will you live for?
Lord — Help me to make pleasing You the purpose for my life. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
