Purpose Driven Life: Day 5 — Seeing Life From God’s View

The way you see your life shapes your life.

That’s how Rick Warren begins day 5 of The Purpose Driven Life. Your perspective of life determines what you do with your life — what you do with your time, your talents, your money, everything you have.

Warren gives 3 suggestions for life perspectives:

1. Life is a test.
We are always being tested. God is always watching to see how we react to situations and people. Nothing is insignificant — but is part of the “test of life”. How we treat others shows how we feel about life. How we react to every situation shows how we feel about life.
To me, this means that we can ask God to help us react to people we see every day and situations we find ourselves in His ways. I’m sure you have heard of people who have an illness they are dieing from — but are not “railing against God” about it but using it to witness to others about God. Maybe you know someone like that. God watches our responses to every person and situation we encounter — and can strengthen us to respond in His way.
Are you letting God help you pass the test?

2. Life is a trust.
God has given us everything we have — has entrusted to us all we have — so we can use everything we have for His glory.
Are you using all you have for God’s glory?

The third perspective Warren gives is: Life is a temporary assignment. That’s the topic of day 6 — so we’ll look at that tomorrow.

Life is a test.
Life is a trust.

Living as is life is a test — using every opportunity you have to show God’s glory — and a trust — using everything you have to show God’s glory — puts a purpose — God’s purpose — in your life.

Lord — Help me to use everything I have to serve You — and help me to show You to everyone You place in my path and in every circumstance I find myself in, In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.

i think both trust and test almost go hand in hand.

once tested, you just have to trust Him.

but you can’t just trust the “trust” if you haven’t been tested either.

I’m going through a difficult time in my life and i am being tested everyday…

and this is the hardest test ever in my life… (i’m 38 years old) Not that I’m old… just and FYI…

God Bless!

Melissa — Keep trusting! And remember that you can trust God! While the chapter is really about how God entrusts us with all we have to be used for His glory — trusting God is important!
