Purpose Driven Life: Day 1– It All Starts With God

February 21st, 2007 · Posted in Books, Christianity, Practical Christianity, Purpose Driven Life ·

Rick Warren begins his book The Purpose Driven Life with the statement:

It’s not about you.
The purpose of your life is not about your personal fulfillment, your peace of mind, or even your happiness.

Many people would read that and think: Then what is life about? If it’s not about me — my happiness — my personal fulfillment — then what is it all about?

Warren goes on to answer that question by writing:

If you want to know why you were placed on this planet, you must begin with God. You were born by his purpose and for his purpose.

People try many avenues for finding meaning in their lives. I believe that the avenue that leads us to God is the only one where we can truly find meaning and purpose for our lives. If you are trying to find purpose and meaning in anything else but God, you won’t find it.

Lord — Help me to find my purpose in you. Amen.

Bill,

I found your blog by doing a search at Google. I just rededicated my life and began Rick Warren’s Purpose Drive Life today. You’re several days ahead of me in the 40 day track. I will be stopping by periodically.
