The Art Of Preparing A Sermon

January 22nd, 2007 · Posted in Christianity, Practical Ministry, Scripture ·

The Pulpit Magazine blog had a great article yesterday about the art of preparing a sermon. It was actually a collection of posts from other places across the internet about preaching and sermon preparation.

Some of the best posts highlighted included:

This series from Steve Weaver (I’ve already highlighted part of the series here, but this post contains links to the complete series).

This post from Colin Adams on how John Stott prepares a sermon.

This postfrom the dog pound at Fide -O (it’s been too long since I’ve visited those guys!) on why preaching needs to be a priority — and sermon preparation a passion.

This post from Phil Johnson on Charles Spurgeon and expository preaching.

Preaching is a calling. If you have answered the call to preach, do the work required in sermon preparation. To be honest, I can’t say I always have done this — but I have become more committed to it in my new Church.

Here is one book that has changed my ideas about — and my commitment to — preaching — and here is one I ordered after reading the post on the Pulpit Magazine blog.
