The Letter: A Christmas Story

December 22nd, 2006 · Posted in Practical Christianity · 1 Comment

I got this from The Pastor’s Weekly Briefing — an e-mail I get every week from The Parsonage (which, by the way, is a great site for practical advice for clergy types and families — and those who care about them).

This is a new twist on an old story:

Ruth looked at the envelope again. There was no stamp, no postmark, only her name and address. She read the letter one more time.

Dear Ruth,

I’m going to be in your neighborhood Saturday afternoon and I’d like to stop by for a visit.

Love always,

God

Her hands were shaking as she placed the letter on the table. “Why would God want to visit me? I’m nobody special. I don’t have anything to offer.”

Does God come to see her?
What happens?
What does Ruth discover when she is visited by God?

Hi, firstly, I want to note that I think it’s a superb blog you got here. What I wanted to ask is, I haven’t found out the way to add your blog rss or atom in my feed reader – where’s the link to your feed? Many thanks
