Advent Devotion: A Song Of Liberation

December 22nd, 2006 · Posted in Advent Devotions ·

The Goshen College Advent Devotion for today is from Luke 1:39-55.

Here is a portion of it:

Biblical scholar Jane Schaberg calls Mary’s response “the great New Testament song of liberation – personal and social, moral and economic – a revolutionary document of intense conflict and victory.” Yes, love promises the kingdom, and Mary believed this with all her heart. Let us believe it as well, rejoicing as Mary did in the liberation offered by Christ’s coming into the world

Indeed — the true liberation God offers has come into the world through Christ. Let us celebrate and rejoice!
