The Call

I did this afternoon!
I have mentioned this in several sermons for the last few weeks that Sally and I were moving from Wentworth. For the past several months I have been in conversation with the Pastoral Nominating Committee at Hopewell Presbyterian Church in Florence, SC. The Hopewell congregation voted today to extend the call to me to be their pastor — so if all goes as planned we will move to Florence the end of August and I will begin at Hopewell on Sunday, September 3.
I’ll share more later about the Hopewell congreagtion — thoughts on “the Presbyterian process of makig a move” how hard it is to say goodbye to folks you have ministered to for over 20 years — the art of packing 20+ years worth of stuff — etc. — but for now I praise God for new opportunities to serve Him!

Congratulations! I sympathize with your feelings. I felt the same way when I left Tallahassee to serve in Cairo.

Hope this finds you and Sally in good health and spirits. As of today it looks like the Mance will be available the latter part of August. I know this will make Sally feel better about moving just one time. Anything we (PNC) can do to help then just let us know. Looking forward to having you both with us .Take care and see you soon.
